Head of Platform and Security Engineering

Head of Platform Engineering in Boost Digital Bank revolves around driving digital transformation, managing technology infrastructure, ensuring regulatory compliance and security, promoting collaboration and integration, focusing on performance and scalability, and embracing innovation and emerging technologies.

You play a critical role in driving the digital transformation of the bank, ensuring the development and maintenance of robust and secure technology platforms, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver innovative and seamless digital banking experiences to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute comprehensive platform engineering strategy aligned with Boost Bank's digital banking objectives. Lead innovation and optimization of technology platforms.
• Lead engineering teams in designing, building, and enhancing digital platforms including mobile banking, online portals, payment systems, and data analytics platforms.
• Architect and implement scalable cloud-native solutions on AWS (EC2, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3) ensuring optimal performance and security.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership in API management (API Gateway, Kong), DevOps/CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Oversee monitoring and observability using Splunk for log management, security monitoring, and operational intelligence.
• Implement bank-grade resilience standards ensuring 99.9%+ uptime, environment isolation (dev/staging/prod), and automated deployment processes.
• Drive capacity planning, cost optimization, and automated scaling across large-scale production infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product engineering, security, compliance, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and regulatory adherence.
• Establish KPIs, monitoring systems, and vendor management strategies to deliver high-performance banking platforms.

Job Requirements & Criteria:

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer) preferred.
• 12+ years in platform engineering/software development with 5+ years progressive leadership experience, preferably in banking/financial services.
• Technical Expertise Required:
• AWS Cloud: 7+ years hands-on experience with core AWS services and enterprise-scale solutions
• API Management: Deep experience with API platforms, RESTful services, microservices architecture in technologies like Kong, APIgee, etc
• DevOps/SysOps: CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, container orchestration
• Monitoring: Splunk expertise for application performance monitoring
• Solution Architecture: End-to-end banking platform design capabilities
• Banking Experience: Bank-grade resilience, large-scale production environments, regulatory compliance (RMIT guidelines), disaster recovery planning.
• Leadership: Experience managing 5+ engineers, strategic direction setting, budget management, and Agile methodologies.
• Digital Banking Knowledge: Mobile banking, payment systems, core banking integration, customer experience platforms, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Security & Compliance: Cybersecurity best practices, zero-trust architecture, risk management frameworks, and banking regulations expertise.
